Senior UX Designer

Are you a UX Designer with a strong commercial portfolio that’s looking for a new challenge? I’m helping one of the UK’s most exciting start-up brands build their UX team, with a focus on providing clean and intuitive customer experiences.

The UX team is integrated into cross-functional Agile teams, with a focus on both B2B & B2C customer experiences. You’ll be working on a variety of different projects, including website design and the complete design, prototyping and build of an App, both on Android & iOS. You’ll be given creative freedom and autonomy to be able to provide industry-leading practices and techniques.

Ideally you’ll be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years experience in a UX Designer (or related) role
  • Have good hands-on knowledge of UX tooling, principles and techniques
  • Apply conceptual and design thinking patterns to determine solutions that meet customer and business needs, considering technical and non-functional constraints.
  • Be able to facilitate internal workshops and external user research sessions.
  • Apply rapid prototyping to test ideas.
  • Understand and be enthusiastic about web/mobile application experiences, and understand those constraints.
  • Be familiar with reviewing sources of customer analytics and distilling the findings into tangible hypotheses.
  • Be comfortable designing both low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity designs (in conjunction with a UI Designer).
  • Understand, utilise and build upon a Design Language System for efficiency, consistency and to reinforce brand identity.

The Head of UX is flexible when it comes to technical experience and is more than happy bringing on board people who are willing to learn. If you could show technical experience in any of the technology listed below then that would be desirable:

  • UX/UI Design and Prototyping Tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Axure, Balsamiq, InVision, Marvel, Proto.io, etc.)
  • Atomic Design and Components (for use in React, for instance)
  • SVGs / Vector images
  • Design Sprints
  • Usability Testing
  • User Journey Mapping
  • Flow Analysis
  • A/B Testing
  • JTBD

There is a salary banding of between £35-45,000 (we’re also recruiting for Senior UX Designers so please still contact us if you’re looking up to the £50k level) + Company Benefits package. Although the business is based out of Birmingham city centre, the majority of the team are remote and they’re flexible when it comes to location. Ideally they’d like people to be able to travel into the office 2-3 times per month when COVID restrictions lift, but again this can be discussed at interview stage. Even though the teams are remote, there is a real focus on a collaborative, supportive and fun environment, with regular contact between teams and monthly socials.

Senior Front-End React Developer

Following an exciting restructure an opening for a Senior Frontend React Developer has now been created within the Technology at a Warwickshire based company

The Senior Frontend React Developer will be working on the core ecommerce platform. You will be focusing on enhancing customer experience as well as the whole look and feel of the site.

Site Reliability Engineer

**This role will be a mix of working from home and working in their Birmingham city centre office 1-2 days per week when COVID restrictions lift**

We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience in an SRE or similar role, ideally working hands on with software engineering and infrastructure. You will work with the engineering teams (Cloud Platform, Software Engineering & Data) to provide support and guidance around reliability, availability, scalability and debugging production issues, as well as seeking out weaknesses in the platform and resolving them using Chaos Engineering principles.

To be considered for this Site Reliability Engineer role you’ll need to demonstrate experience in the following technologies (or equivalent with a willingness to learn):

-Cloud experience (preferably Azure)

-C# / .NET

-Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery

-Observability – Monitoring, metrics, alerting, logging

-Container and orchestration technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes

C# Software Engineer

A world leader in logistics systems is hiring for a further C# Software Engineer to join their team. The company supply their exceptional software products to a number of well-known world-wide retailers, and thankfully, this saw the company sail through the last 12 months.

We are looking for a C# Software Engineer who is keen to travel and work directly on customer site alongside other Engineers. You will occasionally be expected to travel to customer sites, based both in the UK and Europe.

As a key member of the software team you should expect to design, modify, develop and implement key software applications and components. You will be working as part of project team focusing on customer projects.

As C# Software Engineer, you will be responsible for enhance existing systems by analysing business objectives, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement. I addition to this you will maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects as well as developing skills in new technologies.

To be considered for the C# Software Engineer role you will need the following;

  • C#
  • ASP.NET
  • SQL Server
  • Oracle (nice to have)
  • Good understanding of Unit Testing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Good time/task management

The C# Software Engineer position is paying £45,000 with additional pay for out of hours support that may be required every four weeks (rota basis). Travel and accommodation are paid for, as well as other travel expenses. You will also receive a company pension and free access to the gym on site. The company are happy to offer some remote working but would ideally like you to be in the office 2/3 days per week.

Software Development Engineer in Test ( SDET)

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for one of the UK’s most exciting start-up brands. In the past 18 months, the business has grown by over 130 people and has managed to hire a fantastic mix of Software/Site Reliability/Data Engineers and SDET’s. We’re now looking to grow the testing team by hiring two experienced SDET’s to come on board and help them build a first-class software platform.

We’re looking for SDET’s who can champion, lead and implement best practices to ensure they can continue to use CI/CD and develop at pace with confidence. You will need to have a keen understanding of a variety of automated testing techniques, and how that applies to distributed systems architecture. As a business they believe in – testing/releasing early & often, keeping manual testing to a minimum, continuous improvement (through techniques like route cause analysis), ‘zero defects philosophy’, testing in production & using metrics and feedback to guide efforts.

Your responsibilities as SDET will include:

  • Champion test strategy for highly distributed systems, supporting both web & mobile
  • Build a consistent test strategy across multiple teams & help to build and execute the strategy for testing in production
  • Follow latest test patterns and make appropriate recommendations
  • Understand the services offered by cloud platform providers and in particular Azure. Always looking at new ways to push quality.
  • Actively develop new internal tools for testing
  • Support efforts to ensure appropriate levels of scalability (load testing/performance testing)

To be considered for these SDET opportunities you’ll need to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • 3 + years in a similar position or have an interest moving from a Software Engineer into an SDET role
  • C# and/or .NET Core
  • TDD & BDD
  • SpecFlow
  • RestSharp

If you have any of the following experience, then it would be massively desirable:

  • Messaging Systems (e.g. Azure Service Bus)
  • Microservices
  • CI/CD

The role will be fully remote working (you may occasionally need to travel into the Birmingham office) and there’s a salary range of between £50-65,000 depending on experience. Even though the role is remote, the business is fully focused on staff engagement and ensuring there’s a great team culture. Teams regularly keep in contact through a variety of sources and they do run online socials, including online gaming sessions and quizzes etc (if you haven’t had enough of quizzes this lockdown!).
